By accessing and using this website, you are deemed to have accepted to be legally bounded by the Terms & Conditions as stated in this document. If you are below 18 years of age, please obtain parental consent before using this website.

TuitionPortal.sg reserves the rights to change the terms and conditions without prior notice. Your use of our services after such changes have been posted will constitute to your agreement to the modified Terms & Conditions and all of the changes.

:: For Tutors

1) Registration

Registration with TuitionPortal.sg is free-of-charge. However, we reserve the rights to refuse your application.
Tutors must be at least 18 years old and possess the appropriate minimum qualifications to qualify as Tutor.

2) Tutor’s Profile

Upon registration at TuitionPortal.sg a tutor, you will receive an account designation. This account will be used for the uploading of photos, updating of profile and any relevant details.
Tutors are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their accounts and passwords and will be held liable for any activities occurring under their account and password, such as any information, data, text, and materials uploaded or updated through the account.

Tutors are also responsible to ensure that personal information is filled in as accurately as possible, with no attempt to mislead clients through misleading and inaccurate data.
TuitionPortal.sg reserve the right to remove/edit content and terminate tutors’ accounts due to failure to comply with our Terms & Conditions.

TuitionPortal.sg also reserve the right to remove any accounts that are not genuinely created.
TuitionPortal.sg is committed to protecting the privacy of tutors. We will not reveal any personal or sensitive information without your prior permission and consent. Contact information will only be revealed to the client after they have been successfully matched.

Full profiles of tutors will only be made accessible to the management team and coordinators/associated agencies , who need the information to shortlist tutors and to contact tutors with regards to the tuition requests.
TuitionPortal.sg will not be liable for any loss arising from your failure to comply with the Terms & Conditions.

3) Certificates & Qualifications

Tutors are required to provide their grades, schools attended and qualifications obtained when registering as a tutor with us.

Tutors will also be encouraged to email scanned copies of their certificates to us for further verification of their qualifications.

4) Tuition Assignments

TuitionPortal.sg will provide details of tuition assignments to the tutor at the agency’s best knowledge. Tuition assignments will be posted online at the ‘Assignments’ Home Page. At the same time, service coordinators will also call or send a message to tutors regarding the new assignments that are available.

Tutors are responsible for the exact details and requirements before accepting the assignment.
Tutors can indicate their interest in the tuition assignments by requesting to take up the assignment (through the contact form) or by replying service coordinators regarding the assignment.

However, TuitionPortal.sg does not guarantee that tutors will receive the tuition assignment. This is subjected to clients’ requirements and preference.

5) Confirmation of assignment & legal obligations

When a tuition assignment has been confirmed, confirmation emails will be sent out to both parties – clients and tutors. This confirmation email will serve as a reminder of the terms and conditions stated in this document, and it will also include full details of the assignment.

Upon receiving the confirmation email, tutors are deemed to have accepted to be legally bounded by the Terms & Conditions stated in this document. Failure to comply with the Terms & Conditions will lead to legal actions taken by us. Hence, tutors are reminded to take note of the Terms & Conditions and to ensure their availability before confirming that they are able to commit to the assignment.

After the tuition assignment has been confirmed, tutors who back-out from the assignment for any reason or fail to turn up for the first lesson will be required to pay a administration fees to the Agency. This can arise from a few scenarios: (1) Tutors knowingly accepted the assignment but decided to reject it after any time after confirmation or (2) Tutors failed to turn up for the first lesson without any valid reason, and (3) Tutors changed the agreed timing for the first lesson more than once, resulting in clients’ complaints.

Personal commitments will not be acceptable reasons. It is important for tutors to honor the legal obligations as stated in the Terms & Conditions at all times. The amount of administration fees will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and not going beyond a maximum of SGD$50.

At the same time, tutors who back-out or fail to turn up for the first lesson will have their profiles permanently removed. This is necessary to ensure both the quality of our services and the credibility of our agency.
Once the tuition assignment is confirmed, the rate of the tuition assignment is non-negotiable.

6) Commission

TuitionPortal.sg or its Associates/Agencies will collect 50% of the tuition fees for the first month as commission upon the completion of 4, 8, 12 or 16 lessons depending on the frequency of the tuition assignment.

For example, if the tuition assignment is based on a frequency of two lessons per week, there will then be a total of 8 lessons for the first month, and TuitionPortal.sg will collect 50% of the tuition fees for 8 lessons.

By default, TuitionPortal.sg will collect commission payment directly from clients. Tutors are not allowed to collect commission payment directly from clients, unless under special circumstances or agreed upon.

Commission payment is levied on tutors. Hence, tutors should expect to receive the remaining 50% of the first month’s tuition fees at the end of the last lesson for the first month. (For example, tutors will receive payment on the 8th session if based on a frequency of two lessons per week)

If a tutoring assignment is cancelled by the client before tutors complete the agreed number of lessons for the first month, TuitionPortal.sg will take 50% of the tuition fees for the total number of lessons delivered for our coordination effort.

The first month’s tuition fee is based on 4 weeks of lessons and not based on the calendar month.
If lessons are postponed (due to any reason from any party), the postponed lessons are not counted in the commission payment. For example, if the frequency of the tuition assignment is based on two lessons per week – twice per week and 2 lessons had been cancelled due to family overseas trip or holidays, TuitionPortal.sg will still collect based on 8 lessons and not 6 lessons.

During the first month, tutors are not allowed to conduct any form of private or financial transactions with the client without prior knowledge and approval of TuitionPortal.sg. This includes undertaking of any tuition subjects which may jeopardize the interest of TuitionPortal.sg. Tutors who have breached the Terms & Conditions will be liable for the full financial losses incurred and will have their accounts removed.

Tutors are thus responsible to inform TuitionPortal.sg in the event that lessons are postponed, or when the frequency and duration of lessons have been changed.

During the first month, tutors are not allowed to change the frequency and duration of the tuition assignment once confirmed.

7) Cancellation of Assignment

Clients reserve the right to cancel or withdraw his/her tuition requests or assignments at any point of time.
TuitionPortal.sg will not be liable for any issues arising from the cancellation of tuition assignments by clients.
If the cancellation of assignments by clients was due to tutors’misconduct (such as dishonesty, false qualifications and certificates, frequent changes in timings, being consistently late for lessons, rudeness, etc), clients reserve the rights not to pay tutors.

In the event that a tutor has decided to stop teaching the student (after the first month), he/she is responsible to inform TuitionPortal.sg at least one week beforehand so that we will be able to find a replacement tutor to take over the current tuition assignments.

8) Discipline/Conduct of tutors

Tutors are reminded to be at their best and display good conduct as they will be monitored in several areas, such as punctuality, responsibility and honesty.

9) Complaints & Grievances

All complaints lodged by clients against the tutors will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and tutors will be given a chance to dispute the complaints.

10) Legal

Legal actions will be taken against tutors who have breached the Terms & Conditions, attempt to deceive the agency or fail to make payment, in which, tutors will be liable for any additional legal costs and charges. 

11) Disclaimer

TuitionPortal.sg will not be held responsible for any default of tuition fees payment. However, we will protect tutors’interests and will remind clients to make payment to tutors in the event of any delayed payment.

TuitionPortal.sg will also not be held responsible for any injury, damages, disputes, conflicts, claims or loss of any kind that arises between tutors and clients. We can only offer our views and suggestions and will not act as an arbitrator or mediator.

TuitionPortal.sg will not be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive or consequential damages arising in connection with the use of this website.

:: For Clients (Parents and Students)

1) Details of Assignment

Details of tuition assignment provided by clients should be as accurate as possible to prevent misleading both tutors and coordinators.

2) TutorsProfiles

After short listing tutors, TuitionPortal.sg or Associates  will send tutors’profiles over to clients for viewing.
TuitionPortal.sg attempts to ensure that the profiles are as accurate as possible, but does not guarantee that the tutors’profiles are complete, current, or free of errors (For example, typographical errors).

3) Availability of Tutors

When clients have made requests for tutors, TuitionPortal.sg will short list tutors and ensure their availability before sending out tutors’profiles to clients.

However, TuitionPortal.sg does not guarantee the availability of tutors if clients respond or reply after 3 days or more. The availability of tutors will thus be subjected to the tutors’timings and schedules.

Hence, we encourage clients to inform coordinators if the tutors are suitable/unsuitable and confirm tutors in the earliest time possible and/or let us know if they are unable to view the tutors’profiles at the moment due to any reason (For example, clients going overseas for the next few days).

4) Rates of Tutors

The rates of tutors, as stated in our website are obtained based on the current market price and tutors’recent quotations. It is subjected to change anytime and should therefore only serve as a guide.

Different rates will be charged by tutors depending on their qualifications, category and experience. For example, ex-school teachers or school teachers will usually charge a higher rate compared to undergraduates/graduates tutors due to the training they have received at NIE, and their experiences and qualifications.

TuitionPortal.sg will try to match tutors whose rates are within the budget stated by clients. However, this will be subjected to the acceptance of the rates by individual tutors. This will depend on several factors, such as the tutors’qualifications, experience, convenience of location, and other factors.

5) Venue of lesson

By default, tutors will conduct lessons at the residence of clients unless otherwise indicated.

6) Confirmation of Assignment

When a tuition assignment has been confirmed, confirmation emails will be sent out to both parties – clients and tutors. This confirmation email will serve as a reminder of the terms and conditions stated in this document, and it will also include full details of the assignment.

Upon receiving the confirmation email, clients are deemed to have accepted to be legally bounded by the Terms & Conditions stated in this document.

Once the tuition assignment is confirmed, the rate of the tuition assignment is non-negotiable.
Clients are required to check the tutor’s credentials and certificates of the tutor on the first lesson and are responsible to ensure that the tutor’s qualifications are satisfactory.

7) Cancellation of Assignment or Change of Tutor

If clients are not satisfied with the tutor, TuitionPortal.sg will seek for a replacement at no additional charges.
Clients are required to pay tutors the number of lessons given prior to termination.

8) Service

TuitionPortal.sg does not guarantee improvement in the students’grades, but will strive to ensure that tutors deliver lessons to the best of their ability and assist students towards greater academic excellence.
TuitionPortal.sg will conduct stringent procedures to ensure the quality of tutors.

9) Commission Payment

TuitionPortal.sg or Associates/Agencies will collect 50% of the tuition fees for the first month as commission upon the completion of 4, 8, 12 or 16 lessons depending on the frequency of the tuition assignment.

TuitionPortal.sg will collect commission payment directly from clients by default. Tutors are not supposed to collectcommission payment directly from clients, unless under special and mutually agreeable circumstances in which both parties – clients and tutors, will be made aware of the circumstances.

An invoice will be sent over to clients after the second week of lessons. For example, if the assignment is based on a frequency of two lessons per week, the invoice will be dated on the 4th session and will be sent through post/email over to clients.

Payment is strictly to be made within two weeks from the date of invoice.
Clients are to take note that the first month’s tuition fee is based on 4 weeks of lessons and not based on the calendar month.

If a tutoring assignment is cancelled by the client before tutors complete the agreed number of lessons for the first month, TuitionPortal.sg will still take 50% of the tuition fees for the total number of lessons delivered for our coordination effort.

If lessons are postponed (due to any reason from any party), the postponed lessons are not counted in the commission payment. For example, if the frequency of the tuition assignment is based on two lessons per week – twice per week and 2 lessons had been cancelled due to family overseas trip or holidays, TuitionPortal.sg  will still collect based on 8 lessons and not 6 lessons.

In the event of any changes, for example, lessons are postponed or the frequency and duration of lessons have been changed, clients are encouraged to inform us accordingly.

During the first month, tutors are not allowed to change the frequency and duration of the confirmed tuition assignment without informing us.

10) Typographical errors in invoices

In the event that there are any typographical errors in invoices, TuitionPortal.sg will resend a new invoice over to clients.

11) Disclaimer
